Most submissions don’t get passed on because the music is bad. They get passed on because something is missing. Use this checklist before you send your record to any station, Hoodz Radio included.

The audio

  • ☐ Final mastered version (not a demo or rough mix)
  • ☐ Clean version ready, if the record has explicit content
  • ☐ File named Artist – Song Title, so nobody has to guess
  • ☐ High-quality file (WAV or high-bitrate MP3)

The rights

  • ☐ You own or control 100% of the master and the composition
  • ☐ Beat license allows broadcast, or the beat is yours outright
  • ☐ Any samples are cleared
  • ☐ Featured artists are on board with the release

At Hoodz Radio, 100% rights ownership is required. It protects you, and it protects us.

The info

  • ☐ Artist name and song title, spelled exactly how you want them said on air
  • ☐ Two-sentence bio: who you are, where you’re from, what this record is about
  • ☐ Genre that fits: Hip-Hop, R&B, Neo-Soul or Trap for Hoodz Radio
  • ☐ Release date, or a note that the record is unreleased and exclusive
  • ☐ Working social and streaming links
  • ☐ A good contact email you actually check

The strategy

  • ☐ You’ve listened to the station and the record fits its sound
  • ☐ You’re submitting your strongest song, not five songs at once
  • ☐ You’ve thought about an exclusive. At Hoodz Radio, exclusives get priority for Next Gen Spotlight
  • ☐ You have a plan to share the spin when it happens

Red flags to avoid

  • Paying for “guaranteed” plays
  • Sending the same message to every station with no personal touch
  • Following up every day. Our team reviews submissions weekly, so give it time
