What is Next Gen Spotlight?
Next Gen Spotlight is our segment for new voices: independent artists carrying hip-hop, R&B, neo-soul and trap forward. Artists in the spotlight get played next to the culture’s classics, because that’s where real records belong.
What our curators listen for
Craft first
Pen game, flow, delivery, melody. Whatever your lane, we want to hear that you studied it. Gimmicks fade. Craft lasts.
A sound that’s yours
Knowing the history doesn’t mean copying it. The artists who stand out take what came before and add something only they could add.
Quality you can broadcast
A mastered record that holds up next to everything else in rotation. Production matters.
Ownership
You must own 100% of the rights to what you send. No exceptions. It’s how we keep artists, and the station, protected.
Something new to us
Exclusives get priority for Next Gen Spotlight. If you have a record nobody else has played, that gives us a reason to move first.
What we don’t look for
- Follower counts. Your numbers don’t decide whether the record is good.
- Payment. Submission is free. Nobody buys their way in.
- Trend-chasing with no point of view.
