Albany Public Library Trustee Election: Key Dates and How to Get Involved
Albany voters are gearing up to select three trustees for the Albany Public Library Board during the upcoming election on May 21, 2024. This election is a significant opportunity for residents to shape the leadership of their library system, which serves as a cornerstone of community learning, culture, and connection.
What’s at Stake?
Three positions are open for election:
- Two Full Five-Year Terms: The two candidates with the highest number of votes will fill these roles, beginning July 1, 2024.
- One One-Year Term: The third-highest vote-getter will fill this position, commencing immediately after the election and ending in May 2025.
Interested in Running for Trustee?
Albany residents who are passionate about libraries and civic leadership are encouraged to run. To become a candidate:
- Complete a Nominating Petition:
- Available on the library’s website or in paper form at all seven Albany Public Library branches.
- Submit Your Petition:
- Deadline: Wednesday, May 1, 2024, by 5 PM
- Where: Deliver to the Clerk of the City School District of Albany.
- Attend an Information Session (Optional):
- April 10 (Wednesday), 6:30–8 PM at Arbor Hill/West Hill Branch
- April 13 (Saturday), 10–11:30 AM at Pine Hills Branch
